Catherine L. Scott

Catherine Scott has spent her entire legal career zealously defending the rights of her clients. She spent the first five and a half years of her practice at the Richmond Public Defender’s office where she supervised junior attorneys and defended indigent clients on all types of felony and misdemeanor criminal matters in the Richmond courts. Catherine defended hundreds of clients in bench trials and tried various jury trials to verdict.

Upon entering private practice in 2014, Catherine has been assisting clients throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia with their criminal and family needs. Catherine speaks Portuguese and Spanish fluently, and she takes pride in the fact she can effectively communicate with her clients about their cases in their native language.  She is also a Guardian ad Litem for children, which has become a challenging and rewarding area of practice.

Catherine was born and raised in California, where she graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Minor in Spanish. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire School of Law (formerly Franklin Pierce Law Center) in 2007 with a Juris Doctorate degree. Catherine is licensed to practice in Virginia.

Catherine is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Metro Richmond Women’s Bar Association, the Richmond Criminal Bar Association (RCBA), and the Hanover Bar Association. In her free time, you can find Catherine on the dance floor during her ballroom dance lessons.
